What is pandas
pandas is a Python library for data manipulation. You load data as a table: rows and columns.
Here is a small dataset of students. The first column is the row index. The other columns are named name, age, and score.
| name | age | score | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | Ada | 22 | 91 |
| 1 | Blerim | 74 | |
| 2 | Drita | 19 | |
| 3 | Erion | 21 | 88 |
Look at the age column: Blerim has no age. Look at the score column: Drita has no score. Real data often looks like this.
pandas helps you clean that table. You can drop rows that are missing values, or fill the empty cells, and then keep exploring and modifying the data.
